There was no time to waste.
You can’t imagine getting 5 little sleepy children dressed by candle light with the sound of air planes in the air. Thanks to our Nanni we made it down in to the cellar in time. It wasn’t a pretty place. It was used for storing coals but it was safe for the moment and it was a place for us to rest.
We didn’t sleep as we could hear the cry of others from the cellars next to us. It was pretty scary but the calmness of my mother kept us calm too.
I have no idea how long we sat down there, but after some time we where able to get back up to our Apartment. We heard the planes leaving and the bombs stopped falling down. Lucky our building was safe for the moment, BUT …..
