My Mom and my Dad got married later in life and had 5 children. I was the second oldest one of 3 girls and two boys.
My Dad was a comedian on stage and a light weight boxer. He bicycled across many European countries and the public were keeping track of his travels along with a posting in the paper of his journeys.
My Mom studied music in Switzerland.
Totally different backgrounds, but they fell in love and life was good.
We lived in a very nice Apartment, my sister and I received music lessons and went to private school. We went on vacations and on one of those trips I closed the car door on my finger. Needless to say, that was the end of the vacation and we had to drive home to see the doctor.
My Dad was in the military. I remember living in Poland for a short while. It wasn’t very long that my Dad had to leave. We moved back into our Apartment in Dresden. Every once in a while he came home for short visits. My parents didn’t talk allot about the war in front of us, but I know my Dad was troubled.
I was 7 years old at that time. ——I remember,
My Dad got court marshaled for not fallowing orders. Ripped off all his Rank and send to Siberian. Well once you get orders to go there you never return, it’s a dead sentence. There was a date set for his departure but God had a different plan for my Dad. He got very sick and had to be in isolation. The Hospitals where all full so they send him home for my Mom to take care of him. It wasn’t an easy task for my Mom. 5 small children and a deadly sick husband to take care of. It was very contagious. My older sister got infected and now she had to take care of 2. I felt left out and wanted some of that special attention so I went in to the off limit room and drank out of my sisters glass. I still can hear my mom, “OH NO” now I have to take care of 3. It never happened, I never got sick.
There is another example how wonderful God protected us and guided us through the hardship that was ahead of us. Miracles do happens.
